THE "D. S. WINDELL" SWINDLE.
A SENTENCE OF SEVEN YEARS
Received June 28, 8.40 a.m. LONDON, June 27. Francis King, formerly a clerk in the employ of the London and South Western Banks, has been sentenced to seven years' imprisonment, and Robert to eighteen months', in connection with the robbery of £290 from each of several branches of the bank.
The evidence showed that King was the master-mind, and had the larger share of the money.
King, who was a clerk at the Hark-sden branch, notified several other branches that an account of £750 in the name of "D. S. Windell,' had been transferred from his branch to the otbeiv, and a man giving the name of " Winriell" called at those branches and drew £290 from each. "Windeli" was subsequently arrested at Madrid and extradited. He gave his real name as Bernard Isaac.
