FOOTBALL.

Our Tinui correspondent writes as follows:—A cup match was played at Tinui on Saturday between Homewood and Mataikona and resulted in a win for the former by 16 points to 9. Tries were scoi-ed by Peter (2) Faka (1) and Chas. Ellera (1) for the winners, Jackson converting two tries. For the losers Carlson (1), Prince (1), Trump (1) scored tries. These three latter phyers showed exceptional brilliancy m the second spell. Bruce Harvey again played one of his usual sterling games. Jack O'Kane.as forward, and Mason at full back, each played a sound game. The Homewood players gave no chances away, their play being favourable commented upon. Mr Sid Schofield gave entire satisfaction as refeiee. A meeting of footballers was held after the match, Homewood, 'Tenui and Mataikona delegates being present. The following fixtures were I appi'oved of: — Homewood and Tenui meet at Tenui at 2 o'clock sharp on 26th inst Mr J. Greenbank referee. Carswells and Mataikona on the same ground at 3.30 p.m., Mr Sid ! Schofield referee. Mataikona and Tenui play at Tenui on 3rd July, Mr Richardson referee. Homewood and Carswells meet at Homewood on 3rd July, Mr Ross referee. The following will play for Tenui against Homewood at Tenui on Saturday next, play commencing punctually at 2 o'clock sharp:—Full back,

E. Collerton; three-quarters, E. and B. Schofield, Donoghou and Jim Collerton; five-eighths, Mick h rp; half-back, Art Schofield; wings, Chas Fletcher; forwards, Stilborn, Schofield, Pearce, McGillicuddy, Bethanie, W. Collerton, and Clarence Schofield; emergencies, Groves, Pears, and Page. All players are requested to be on the ground sharp at 1.30 p. m.
