Wedasday. Rain fell here this afternoon, but was not heavy enough to do any good. There are, however, indications of it continuing.
The representative hockey match, Wellington v. Wairarapa, is to be played here to-morrow afternoon. Last evening the half-yearly summoned meeting of the Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge, 1.Q.0.F., M.U., was held in the Foresters' Hall, Br:>. U J. De Lacey, N.G?. presiding. 80. J. Kershaw, the retiring District Corresponding Secretary, wrote thanking the Lodge for the consideration received from them at all times. Th-e following officers wre elected for the ensuing term : —N.G., P.G. Bro. W. Butler; V.G., F.G. Bro. J. Fenshani. The installation ceremony wili take placti at th j next meeting. It was decided to endorse the proposal of the Friendly Societies' Council to expend £2 on a trophy for card tournaments. A proposal favouring the appointment of a second medical officer was rejected. A notice of motion that the resolur tion authorising a Brother's name to be placed on the Merit Board, for meritorious services, be rescinded, was lost, and another notice of motion that another Merit Board be procured on which to put the names of members for meritorious services other than passing through the chairs of the Lodge, was also defeated Receipts for the evening amounted to £l3 3s sd, and disbursemens to £l2 15s 6d.
