PAHIATUA NEWS.
(From Oar Resident Reporter). Friday. The fresh in the Mangatainoka *iver yesterday morning was the cause of a further portion of the bank t>n the Borough side of the bridge at the end of the Palmerston North road being scoured out. The recent rains have had a beneficial effect on the Pahiatua-Scar-lorough footpath, and in a short time the metal should be well set. The footpath has also helped to grealy improve the road, the earth from the sides having been used for the footpath. "West's Pictures" will pay a return visit to Pahiatua shortly. In connection with the school shield football fixtures the Pahiatua boys play Eketahuna at the latter place to-morrow and Mangatainoka play a combined team from Konini. Scarborough and Mangarama at Scarborough. I understand that the Tararua Cheese Factory at Ballance will run all through the winder. The suppliers to the factory have had a splendid season.
A concert in aid of funds for gravelling part of the playground at the new school ie like! to l a held shortly. Such a concert will no doubt be well patronised, as the object is a worthy one. The first "shoot" for the WhyteMackay silver cup by the members of the]Pahiatua Gun Club will take place on Wednesday next, weather permitting.
