FOOTBALL.

The Red Star seniors and thirdclass players will hold a practice match on the Showgrounds on Saturday next. The following team will represent Red Star juniors against Dalefield juniors, at Dalefield, on Saturday next:—A. Hoar, M. Welch, J. Wing, R. Milne, G. Ross, M. Iggulden, L. Welch, H. Clarke, G. Allen, E. Williams J. Stalker, V. Billington, G. Stewart, G. McHattie J. McLaren.

Two well-known Masterton footj bailers, Messrs C. Ross and j. Corbett, of the Red Star Club, will leave to-day for Wellington en route to Queensland, where they intend to remain till October next. Mr Corbett has been a member of the Stars for some seasons past, and is a hard working forward. He was showing fine dash this season, and is developing into a "good dribbler, his footwork being quite a feature of his play. Mr Ross threw in his lot with the Stars this year, and is unquestionably one of the best forwards in the Wairarapa, always playing a brilliant j game. He has represented Wairarapa on a number of occasions, and last year was a member of the team that toured the South Island. When playing for the Canterbury representatives he was recognised as in the front rank of forwards. The loss of these two players i 3 a serious one to the Star Club, but their absence will be somewhat compensated for by the fact that H. Rhodes, of Canterbury College, and threequarter in the New Zealand Univeisity team, which visited Australia last season, has returned to Masterton, and will don the jersey again for his old Club. The following Red Star 111. players will hold a practice match on the Showgrounds on Saturday, at 3 o'clock sharp:—Hoar, Welch, Golder, Ibbetson, Boyd, Mason, De Lisle, Galley, Morris, Christensen, Wyeth, Mackenzie, Smith, Treen, Harris, Miller, Sutton, Tankersley, Clark, Dixon, Riddle, Williamson. All these players are requested to attend or notify the captain of their inability to be present. I
