The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co, Ltd., report at their fortnightly stock sale, yester- ( day. as follows: They had a fair aver- j age yarding in sheep, which em- } braced all classes. The quality was fairly good all through, and the tone of the market brisk, which enabled us to make a clearance under the j hammer. In cattle we submitted all Masses, but grown steers. Bidding ,vas free all throughout, every lot jelling at sound rates. Best ewes in amb from lis 6d to 12s, medium , 10s, aged 7a 3d; fat wethers, 12s j 3d; fat ewes, 9s to 9s 6d; fat lambs, 10s 6d; good strong lambs, 9s; wethers in good condition, lis; fat cows, prime, £4 to £4 3s; forward cows and heifers, 60s to 745; store cows, 30s to 355; yearlings, 303; steers, 70s. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual fortnightly sale at their Masterton yards, yesterday, when they offered a large yarding of all classes of stock, which had come forward much in excess of advertised numbers. Bidding throughout the sale was keen, and they have to report practically a total clear- I ance. We quote as follows:—Ewes in lamb, 8s 9d to 10s lOd; 2-tooth wethers, small, 9s 4d to 10s 7d; fat wethers, very good, 13s to 13s 3d; iambs, backward, 7s 9d to 8s 2d; 3-year old steer* £4 18s to £5 ss; 2£year steers, very backward, £2 7s 6d to £2 18s; 18-month steers, low condition £2; fat cows. £4 t( £4 3s; ipriiging cows, £2 12s 6d to £3 'a 6d.
