MASTERTON TRUST LANDS TRUST.
MONTHLY MEETING OF TRUSTEES. The monthly meeting of the Trustees of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust was held last evening, There were present, —Messrs T. B.' Michell (chairman), T. Wagg, C. E. Daniell, D. Caselberg, E. G. Eton, 0. Pragnell, R. Krahagen, W. H. Jackson, and H. C. Robinson. Mr Michell, the chairman, welcomed the Trustees, who had been elected at the annual meetihg. He hoped that a good,yea£ would result. There was certainly heavy work before the TruslesS during the next twelve months. The business of electing a chairman for the ensuing twelve months was then proceeded with. Mr Wagg moved that Mr Daniell to the position. was a lot of important building work , to be undertaken, and Mr Daniell's services and experiences to the Trust in tbjs direction would be of great value. Mr Krahagen seconded the motion Mr Jackson moved that Mr Wagg be chairman, but that Trustee declined owing to pressure of private business. Mr Caselberg proposed Mr Eton for the office, which was seconded, by Mr Robinson. A ballot was then taken, resulting in Mr Daniell being elected to the position. Mr Daniell then took his seat at the head of the table. He thanked the Trustees for the honour conferred on him in appointing him their chairman. He had been ■% citizen of Masterton for thirty years, and had thought of nt standing for the Trjst this year. * He would most probably hive offered his services to the public in soi. e other direction, but the occurrence of the fire had decided him to stand for election. He was anxio*s to give his time and energy for he welfare of the Trust. He eulogi .a the able worK done by their late chairman, Mr Michell. Rev. W. E. Rice wrote thanking the Trustees for the concession allowed for Dr. Barnardo's Homes lectures. The Department of Justice wrote stating that a Bill would be prepared in due course by the Government in connection with the exchange of sites. ' Mr F. Langstone wrote offering to take a lease of a portion of the proposed new buildings if a billiard room were erected. Mr W. Horne also wrote offering to take a shop in the building. Adjutant Green wrote tr.aking an application for a grant towards the Salvation Army Band.—The matter was held over. Applicants for grants were re-; ceived from St. Patrick's School, Lansdowne School and the Masterton District High School. The allocation of the School grants ►was then approximately dealt with as follow: Masterton District High School, £9B 4s: Fernridge School, £25; Lansdowne School, £2B; St. Patrick's School, £3l 8s; Technical School, £IOO. Mr Jackson then proposed that a vote of £lO be granted to the Lansdowne School in aid of their Piano . Fund. After discussion the motion was lost. Accounts amounting to £IOO 7s 9d were passed for payment. RE-EEtECTION OF STAR BLOCK. Plans were submitted by three local architects for the re-erection of the premises recently destroyed by fire. The Trust then went into committee to discugs the question of providing living accommodation ini the new buildings, and it was resolved that the Trust do not plan rooms for living accommodation, it being understood that 1 this does not prohibit anyone from living on the premises. < A committee consisting of the Chairman, Messrs Michel], Wagg and Eton, were appointed a commit-i tee to report on the sketch -plans submitted to the Trust. The report will be submitted at a special meeting of the Trust on Friday evening next.
