THE DREADNOUGHT GIFT.
RECOGNITION OF AUSTRALIA'S ACTION. VIEWS OF "THE TIMES." Received June 10, 8.15 a.m. LONDON, June 9. "The Times," referring to Mr Deakin's offer of a battleship to the Imperial Government, says that Australia has the honour of being the second Dominion to offer a Dreadnought in tho cause of Imperial defence.
"The gratitude with which the Government accepted the gift," says "The Times," "is shared to the full by the whole nation, as well as by the citizens of other overseas dominions. That feeling is increased by the proof of confidence in the Admiralty afforded by the Commonwealth's readiness to leave the manner in which the gift shall be applied to the judgment of the Imperial_authorities."
