LAUNCH OF THE DANTON.
GRADIENT INSUFFICIENTLY STEEP. Received June 4, 9.5 a.m. I PARIS, June 3. The difficulty in completing the launch of the battleship Danton is caused by the gradient being insufficiently steep for the ship's weight. Workmen are rebuilding the ways beneath the ship. It was cabled a few days ago that the hitch in the launcn of the Danton, which stuck on the slips in the endeavour to launch her at Brest, had already cost the French Government twenty thousand pounds.
