A DISABLED STEAMER.
FRUITLESS SEARCH. ' By Telegraph—Tress Association, WELLINGTON, June 3/ ' Captaii? Watson, of the Blenheim,. which arrived toldfty. 3 «» at he picked up the steamer disabled in Cook Strait. The Blenheim towed the Wootton to the vicinity of Cape Palliser, and then had to let her go, owing to the shortness of coal. The Wootton had a sea anchor out when the Blenheim steamed away. The tug ( Duco left shortly after 2 o'clock, and returned between 8 and 9 o'clock to-night, and reports having searched the coastline for 22 miles south of Pencarrow, but saw no of the Wootton. Those aboard the Duco could see several I miles further along the coast. There | was a heavy westerly gale blowing, with a heavy sea.
