Mr J. M. Coradlne, who together 'with Mrs Coradine, is making: an extended tour, has thoughtfully forwarded to us an interesting copy of the "Shanghai Times." There are several articles and reports in the paper, which show how very rapidly China is waking up. Alexis Krauss, the authur of that exceedingly interesting work"China in Decay." would certainly have selected another title for his work had he written it a few years later. There are not many people who really realise to any extent the enormous nature of the Chinese Empire, and the tremendous strength of "the dragon." It is safe to say that when China is thoroughly awake, diplomatic problems in "the Far East" will present themselves in,a very different aspect, and the whole situation should prove of absorbing interest to the Japanese.
