Y.M.C.A. BOY SCOUTS.
DESPATCH RACE PROM CARTERTON.
The Boy Scouts of the Y.M.C.A. will hold a despatch race from Carterton to Masterton on Thursday afternoon. Two teams of ten boys each wilf compete.' The lads will be placed along the roadway at distances of about a mile apart. The despatches are to be handed over at the Carterton Post Office at 3 o'clock, an on the runners completing their .allotted distances the despatches are handed on to the next two boys and so on, the last run being from Kuripuni to the Masterton Post Office. The members of the winning team are to be presented with silver badges. At the close of the physical culture class last night the teams were chosen as follows: —No. 1 team —F. Jones, J. Hunter, E. Chesterman, N.'Hendry, Roy Tait, V. Davis, W. Peterson, G. Permain, J Tonquist, Hoffeins; emergency, G. Pember. No., 2 team —P. Buckthought, C. Jarrett, H. Tonquist, R. Te Tau, I. Sutherland, P. Wimsett, H. Buckthought, R. Cameron, J. Tait, H. Jarrett; emergency, F. Ackerman. The boys will run in the regulation scout uniform.
