THE CRISIS.
THE COALITION COMPROMISE,

The Federal Prime Minister, Mr A. Fisher, will wait'on the GovernorGeneral to-day, and ask for a dissolution of Parliament.
The general opinion in political circles is that Lord Dudley will decline to accede to the request.
Mr J. Cook states that the compromise agreed upon in regard to coalition with the Deakin party provides that there shall be no interference with .the protectionist policy of the present Customs tariff or in rectifying tariff anomalies, and as regards the new protection there will be no serious encroachment upon the rights of the States, which will control their own industrial affairs. The compromise on fiscal policy will cover this and the next Parliament.
Mr G. H. Reid, ex-Leader of the Opposition, is con vinced of the wisdom and patriotism of coalition.
Received June 1, 12.40 a.m. MELBOURNE. May 31. Mr Fisher waited on the Earl of Dudley early this afternoon, a;id presented in writing a request in favour of a dissolution. The Earl of Dudley intimated that he would give his decision later.
