MASTERTON COLLIE CLUB.

ANNUAL DOG TRIALS. The annual dog trials under the auspices of the Masterton Collie Club, which commenced on Thurrday, were continued again yesterday on Mr W. Cameron's property at Te Ore Ore. There was a good attendance of interested spectators, and the proceedings passed off most successfully. The sheep behaved remarkably well, and good progress was made with the programme. Class 11. event was completed. The Huntaway event was then started, but darkness come on, and prevented the competittion from being finished. The results are as follow: Heading, Driving and Yarding, open. Head and bring back 400 yards, drive through ring, drive 75, yards, through one set of hurdles, 8 feet apart, drive 75 yards and yard in a pep of hurdles, one hurdle to be used as a gate, and may be used as a wing. Dog and worker to keep behind sheep and follow them through hurdles. Time allowed, 15 minutes. Points: Heading. 7; bringing back, 7; driving, 8; yarding, 8; command 10. First prize, £o; second, £3; third, £2; fourth, J. Elliott's trophy value 7s 6d; fifth, C. Corbett's trophy, value ss: Mr W. fringe's Fife; heading 6, bringing back 7, driving 7, varding 4, command a; total, 32 1 Mr A. McLeod's Pat, 5, 5, 5, 6. 7; total, 28 2 Mr H. Dyke's Don, 6, 5, 4, 5, 7; total, 117 3 Mr P. McKenzie's Lad, 5, 5, 5, 5, 6; total. 26 4 Mr F. W. Jones' Jack, 6, 5, 7, 0, 7; total, 25 5 Mr J. G. Sutherland's Fan, 6, 5, 7, 0, 6; total, 24 6 JUDGE'S COMMENTS. Fife—Started to the left; went out rather wide; headed nicely under real'good command; come down hill quietly, and then sheep got a bit stubborn, but brought them to ring on a fair line, and gave a good driving exhibition; sheep got split at yards, and just got yarded as time was up; the best work in that class. Pat —Cast to the left; crossed line, but headed on right side; rather fast in pulling at start; sheep got split on flat, and went too far around ring; no style in driving, and shaep went into yard without trouble. Don —Sent out to the left; rather wide and slow on flat; almost crossed line after getting on to hill; headed quietly, but came too fast down hill, and scattered sheep; got through hurdles,but not much style in driving; got through yards, but did not stop there, as one side was not properly fastened; then yarded after some trouble.

Lad—Cast to left; barked when leaving ring; headed in fast time, but was too rash, and was nard on sheep; kept a good line, but not much style shown in driving, and was a long time yarding. Jack —Cast to the right, but went rather wide; headed well above sheep, but came on them too rashly; brought to ring on fair line, but was too. hard on sheep; worked quietly to hurdles, but took a long time to get through; got to yards quietly, but could not get them in. Fan—Cast to left; went out well and headed almost out of sight; scattred sheep in driving them; come too rashly at times when pulling, and scattered sheep again; got through ring and hurdles, and dog had to be pursuaded to do so; otherwise driving was good; made a good attempt to yard. The trials will be concluded to-day.
