JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. KNOX v. CARTERTON B. The Knox and Carterton B team met on Carrington Park, Carterton, yesterday afternoon, when the visitors secured a substantial victory by 6 goals to nil. Knox outclassed their opponents in nearly all departments of the game, the forward line being particularly good. In the Carterton team occasional brilliant pieces of work were witnessed. The goals were snored by R. Harding (2), J. Berry, A. R. Barry, C. Cole and 0. Ibbetson. Mr W. J. Bannin was referee. W.F.C.A. v. CARTERTON. On the Masterton Showgrounds, Carterton and W.F.C.A. played a drawn game, the score being two goals each. J. La Roche and J. Johnson scored for W.F.C.A., and Dudson for Carterton. Mr F. B. Rosson was referee. A painful accident befel Mr R. Meredith, a well-known resident of Taumaranui, on Thursday last. He had recently joined a survey party, and while crossing some rough country his dog got into a conflict with a wild pis. Mr Meredith, seeing his dog getting the worse of the encounter, took an active part in the affair, with the result that the pig mutilated his leg dreadfully, and' mangled his left hand. However, he eventually managed to slay the infuriated beast with hits knife. Loss of blood rendered him very weak, and he was brought to the hospital, where his injuries were attended to.
