PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS BALL.

(From a Correspondent). A plain and fancy dress ball was held in the Mangamahoe Public Hall, on Friday evening, May 21st. The affair was a brilliant success,, and was very largely attended. The hall was beautifully decorated with native foliage, and bunting. The music was supplied by Messrs Larsen and Jensen's string band, who deserve a special word of praise. They kept such perfect time, the opinion of most of the dancers being that they had never danced to better music A few of the fancy dresses were: —Mrs W. Nation, "Ruination''; Miss M. Tildesley, "Tambourine Girl"; Miss L. Tidiesley, "Egyptian Dancing Girl"; Miss McGruddy, "Irish Peasant"; Miss N. McGruddy, "Forget-me-not"; Miss lildesley, "Pierrite"; Miss Madsen, "Green Domino"; Miss Braggins, "Black Domino" Mr Pike, "Ivy"; Miss Braddick, "Jealousy"; Mrs Campbell, "Scotch Lassie"; Miss Goodgame, "Pierrotte"; Eileen Nation, "Flower Girl"; Miss Gladys Bamford, "Fairy"; Mr W. Nation, "Barrister"; Mr W. Larsen, "Judge"; Mr C. Hodge, "Jockey"; Mr J. Johnson, "Tommy Atkins"; Mr A. Thorby, "Cricketer"; Mr Farmer, "Baker"; Mr T. Campbell, "Submarine Mine Volunteer"; Mr Clowe, "Buffalo Bill"; Mr McDonald, "Stockman." Messrs Walter Larsen and Mr Jim Johnstone acted as M's.C.
