STOCK MARKET.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report on their fortnightly stock sale at Eketahuna yesterday as follows: We had a full yarding of all classes of sheep, the quality throughout being nut of the best. All lots offered met with a ready sale, a clearance under the hammer being effected. The tone of the market was firm. In cattle we also submitted a good catalogue , the bulk of the entries being useful steers. Bidding was fairly brisk all through, two lots only failing to sell. Kates were sound. Ewes in lamb, for best, 10s to lis; medium, 9s 6d to 10s; others, Bs, 7s 6d; culls, 6s; best "lambs, 8s lOd, 8s: medium, 6s to 7s; small, ss. In cattle, Syr steers, good, made £4 14s; <2\ to 3yrs, £4 ss; 2yrs, £3 5s to £3 13s; 18 months, £2 5s to £2 13s; yearlings, 25s to 30s; fat cows, 70s to 80s; forward cows, 50s to 57s 6d; stores, 40s to 425; heifers, 30s to 38s. Messrs Dalgety and Co. report as follows on their fortnightly sale at Eketahuna, yesterday:—We had a good yarding of both and cattle. Sheep of all descriptions sold well. Cattle sold at late values. We were successful in whole entry of sheep, and all but two pens of cattle. We quote:—2 and 4-tooth wethers, 10s Id to 12s 4d; breeding ewes, 9s, 9s 9d, 10s Id to 12s 7d; lambs, 7s, 8s 3d to 9s 2d; Messrs Percy Bros, ewes made the satisfactory price of 12s 9d. Cattle: Best bullocks, £5; others from £4 to £4 15s; steers, £3 16s; fat and forward cows, £3, £3 10s to £3 15s, store cows, £2;. heifers in calf, £2 7s 6d, £3 3s to £3 10s.
