(From Our Resident Reporter.) Wednesday. Mr E. Bbuyland, a da &&t "In" the railway station here, wilt leave tomorrow on transfer to. the Wanganui district. The vestry of St. Mark's Church expect the new pipe organ to arrive early in July. Mr D. Flynn, who has held the position of head ganger on the permanent way staff at the local railway station, has been transferred to Petone, and, with bis family, left for his new sphere of labour this afternoon. Very few swaggers have passed through here during the past few weeks, which is a good sign as far as work is concerned.
It is with regret that I have to chronicle the death of Mrs C. Sewell, wife of Mr C. Sewell, of Clareville, which occurred at her residence last evening The deceased lady was of a kind disposition, which won foJ her many friends. The heartfelt sympathy of a large circle uf frierid3 will be extended to the relatives. A husband and family of six children, the eldest being fourteen years of age, and the youngest three weeks, are left to mourn their loss. The funeral will take place on Friday. A daylight parade is to be held tomorrow afternoon, by the local company of volunteers. Mr L. Armstrong, of the firm of Messrs Wallace, Masson and Co., Ltd., was the victim of an accident the day before yesterday. He was engaged at'an emery wheel, when a chip flew off and entered his eye.Mr Armstrong will be unable to follow his occupation for a few days.
