The Opaki Rifle Club will fire in an important competition on Monday next—namely, in the "Daily Mail" Empire Cup competition, in which ' rifle clubs throughout the world competes. Last year the Opaki Club put up the fine average of 97 for a team of eight men, being top among the New Zealand teams entered They were sixteenth on the 'total list of competitors. The mutch J Inst year was won by a South African club, the team from which were credited with having scored 103 per man out of a possible of JOS. The ranges are 300 yards, 500 yards and 600 yards. Efforts are likely to be made for the Opak i Club to fire return matches with Mauriceville and Makuri prior to the Emph*e Day match, thus insuring some practice for the local men. Should the Opaki men sustain the standard set by them in their combined shooting at the last Trentham meeting they should be well up he leading teams in the "Daily Mail's" competition.
