PAHIATUA NEWS.

[(From Our Resident Reporter). Monday. Th 3 first annual meeting of the Fahiatua-Akitio A.and P. Association will be held in the Trocadero, at 7.30, to-morrow (Tuesday) evening, when the election of officers will take I place and the question of a site will be fully discussed. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., advertise a good yarding of both sheep and catte at their P.P. A. sale to-morrow. Mr Peter Tullock, on page 8, gives particulars of a farm for lease of 514 acres of flat land. A meeting of the sub-committee of the Woodlands Hunt Club was held in the Commercial Hotel, on Saturday evening last, Mr Rodney presiding. The business transacted was to draw jup a programme for the annual steeplechase meeting, which is to be held in August. So far this season no matches liave been played by the Pahiatua Golf Club, owing to the abundant autumn growth of grass interfering with the play. Some short time back the Nuisance Inspector stated in his monthly leport that overhanging hedges were becoming a nuisance av-o it is pleasing to note that in most cases the hedges referred to have since been trimmed, and pedestrians -can now walk along the footpath's without being in danger of receiving a blow on the face with overhanging branches. Keen enthusiasm prevails amongst footballers, who play under the Puketoi Union, and on Saturday last at Makuri, a good gamewas witnessed between Kakanui and Makuri. Prices][were obtained as follows: — Two-tooth to s.m. ewes in lamb, 9s 6d; empty ewes, 7s 6d; lambs, 8s 2d; fat and forward wethers, lis; 18-month steers, £2 15s; 3-year steers, £4 10s; fat cows, fair, £3 10s. Under a distress warrant goods aa advertised on page 6 will be sold on Thursday, May 20th, at 12 noon, at the Marima Sawmill. . The articles consist of sawmilling plant, horses, ■waggons, timber, etc.
