Mr George And3rson, a resident of Wellington for fifty years, died on Thursday, at the age of 71 years. Mrs Stillborn, of Burton. Fields, Tenui, is seriously ill, and she has been removed to a private hospital in Masterlon for medical treatment. Mr Webb, organist and choirmaster at St. Thomas' Church, Wellington South, has accepted an appointment at Wanganui. - I Captain Duiwn Menzies has resigned his commission in the Wellington Navals, and has been placed on the "active" list. The Government has received a dispatch from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, notifying that the King has approved of the Hon. James McGowan, late Minister of Justice, retaining the title of "honourable" for life. Lieutenant Owen Pleasants, of the Manchester Rifle Volunteers,has been awarded the Colonial Auxiliary Forces officers' decoration. Lieutenant Pleasants has a volunteer service of over twenty years in the ranks and as an officer. Tha friends of Mr W. S. Dickens, senr., of Riverside, Tenui, will be pleased to hear that he is making satisfactory progress towards recovery, after his recent severe operation in the Masterton Hospital. The Very Rev. Father Keogh, rector of St. Patrick's College—who is to take charge of the Catholic parish of Hastings—will leave Wellington for his new sphere of labour at the end of next month. Mr Jonas Bottomley, a well-known and respected citizen of Woodville, died suddenly on Thursday evening last. The deceased had been the proprietor of the Central Hotel, Woodville, which he ran successfully for a number of years.
