ABOLITION OF THE DISTRICT COURT.
MA'ITER BEFORE THE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The matter of the abolition of the Wairarapa District Court came befcre the meeting of the Borough Council last evening, when a communication from Mr W. G. Beard was received. The letter stated that at a meeting of the legal profession, held in Masterton on April 26th last, a resolution was passed as follows: —"That a deputation of the profession of those present, and any other solicitors who could attend, wait upon the Minister of Justice, through the Hon. A. W. Hogg, as member for this district, and urga the desirability of establish nent of circuit sittings of the Tup-erne Court in Masterton, and that in the meantime continuance of the District Curt ba arranged, and that the rest of the profession in the district, and the Borough Council and Chamber of Commerce of Masterton, be invited to co-operate." The Council was unanimous that something shoul! te done in the matter, and the Major and Cr F. W. Temple were appointed to represent the Council on the deputation.
