GENERAL COMMITTEE.

The General Committee met in the afternoon. There were present:— Messrs D. McGregor janr. (chairman), I). Caselberg, J. P. Perry, H. Morrison, W. Perry, R. J. Dagg, A. J- Percy, Jos. Morris, VV. Cooper, A. G. Pilsner, o. G. Cooper, Q. Donald, 13. Rayner, J. E. Perry, J. C. McKillop, W. J. Welch, and J. D. Cruickshank. Apolugies forabsenco were received irom Messrs W. E. LJidwill, E. Harper, H. A. Matthews, G. C. Summerell, C. Vallance, VV. D. Watson, and G. Snaw. Mr W. E. Bidwill, of Rototawai, wrote stating that the cup he had promised to th« Association wou Id ' arrive at any time. He also enclosed I a donation of £lO to be devoted towards beautifying Solway by planting trees, deciduous trees preferred, in any way the Committee thought ! desirable. The members expressed j appreciation of the generous gift. On the motion of the chairman, a vote of thanks was passed to Mr Bidwill, and aho other denors. The reports of the Finance and Ground Committees were°adopted. Mr J. W. Compton wrote in connection with his prize money donated for the ladies' driving competition at the late Masterton Show. Miss , Hopwood was the only lady who came forward out of four entries, and the writer thought she was entitled to the first prize money, the judge having only awarded hsr a second prise, i On the motion of Mr W. Perry the request was granted. i An oiler of £2O was received from : Mr A. J, Cooper for the grazing of : the Showgrounds, and was ae- ! cepted. The chairman brought up the matter of letting the grazing of part of Solway. On the motion of Mr I). Caselberg, seconded by Mr J. C. McKillop, the matter was left in the hands of the chairman to deal with. Two resignations were accepted. On the motion of Mr Welch, seconded by Mr Dagg, it was decided to apply to the Department of Agriculture for information in connection with the supply of trees for plant- | ing-
