EMIGRATION TO THE COLONIES.
VIEWS OP MR JOHN BURNS. COLONIES SHOULD BEAR COST OF TRANSPORT. LONDON, May 7. Dr. Richard Arthur, of Sydney, had an interview lasting an hour and a quarter, with Mr John Burns, President of the Local Government Board, in regard to emigration to the colonies. The Minister was very sympathetic, and expressed his readiness to receive a deputation to suggest methods whereby Britain could assist emigration to' Australia. Mr Burns considers that the colonies should hear the cost of transport, seeing that Britain loses the future economic valJe of the youth which she has reared to manhood.
