AUSTRALIA v. NOTTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. LONDON, May 7. The match of the Australian cricketers against Nottinghamshire was resumed at Nottingham this morning, in beautiful weather. The wicket was fast, and about 5,000 spectators were present. On resuming this morning the two notout men continued their innings. Bardsiey obtained 54 in 57 minutes. Carter played a capital innings with some fine cuttingjatrokes. The second wicket fell for 123. The next three wickets fell rapidly. Bardsiey batted for y5 minutes. After Ransford's dismissal, the fifth wicket being down for 145, a good partnership commenced between Trumper and Armstrong. Both commenced carefully, with small hits, and occasionally fours. Trumper gave a hard chance at 14 to Jones's left hand at mid-off off Hallam. At lunch the second century was up for 150 minutes' play. The batting was brilliant, eleven resulting from one over of Har^staff's. Irumper's halfcentury was made inside 70 /minutes. Shortly after resuming Trumper lost his wicket trying to"pull Hallam. His innings—a brilliant one after a quiet start—occupied 110 minutes, and included twelve fourera. Arm strong made 55 in 58 minutes,' without a mistake. The sixth wicket fell for 287.

Armstrong became much freer. Cotter save a chance when he had made sever. Indulgirg in hard hitting, he sent up a tremendous skyer, which missed the wicket-keeper, Oates, Armstrong's century appeared for 170 minutes' play, without a flaw. EASY VICTORY FOR AUSTRALIANS. Received May 9, 4.45-p.m. LONDON, May 8. The match was resumed today, the weather being delightful. The heme team made a poor showing in their second innings, and only made 144, the Australians thus scoring an easy victory by an ininngs and six runs. Hardstaff was clean bowled by Armstrong. Payton, before scoring, gave a chance to Whitty at mid off, off Cotter. The fourth wicket fell at 81, the sixth at 97, and the century was hoisted after 140 minutes' play. Allertson batted 25 minutes, his score including two sixes. He drove Whitty over the ring to long on, and lifted Armstrong out of the ground to square leg.
