FATAL FIRE.
TWO GIRLS BURNT TO ' DEATH. By Telegraph—Press Association. i GREYMOUTH. May 7. A fire at Brunner destroyed Watchman's store and dwelling house. Two of Watchman's daughters, aged seventeen and four, respectively, were burned to death.
ADDITIONAL PARTICULARS. GREYMOUTH, May 7. Later details of the fatal fire at Brunner show that returned home at 12 oclock from a social. The fire was discovered at 1.30 a.m., but the cause is unknown. The victims are:—Jane Watchman, aged 17; and Eliazbeth Watchman. agec!"s. Both girls made an effort to get out, but were apDarently overcome by the smoke. All the other inmates of the house escaped by jumping from the second storey windows. All received minor injuries, the most serious being sustained by Thomas Watchman, who had an arm broken. All the members of the family are utterly prostrated by the fatality. The premises were insured, but the amount is not available.
