A FECULIAR CASE.
BISHOP SUED ON A PROMISSORY NOTE. Received May 6, 10.50 a.m. PERTH, May 6. The Right Rev. Dr. Gibney, Roman Catholic Bishop of Perth, was sued for the recovery of £220, said to be due on promissory notes bearing his endorsement. The notes were issued by the late Father Keogh in connection with a land transaction. Dr Gibney stated that he never saw the bills, and that the signatures were forgeries. The judge, in giving his decision in favour of -the Bishop, said the conclusion to be drawn from the evidence was that the decepsed priest had committed the offence, or had obtained the assistance of some one else. ,
