PACIFIC CABLE.
PROPOSED CHEAPER RATES. Received May 6, 10.40 a.m. MELBOURNE, May 6. The Postmaster-General (Hon. J. Thomas) intends to place a proposal for cheaper cable rates before the Pacific Cable Board. The scheme is that the present rate of 3s per word should stand, but that a Is 6d rate for code and Is for plain English be charged for delayed delivery cables.
