A TEST CASE.
ALLEGED BREACHES OF LICENSING ACT. By Telegraph—Press Association. PALMERSTON N., May 3. Michael Moynihan, a publican at Shannon, was charged at the S.M. Court on four alleged breaches of the Licensing Act, by issuing small cards at the recent licensing elections containing instructions how to vote. The case is the first heard in New Zealand, and is laid under subsections A and B, section 157, Legislature Act. The police prosecuted, and the facts were admitted by the defence. Counsel addressed the Court on the legal position. Decision was reserved by the Magistrate.
