GAYDAH MURDER.
ROSS SENTENCED TO DEATH. United Press Association-By Electric Telegraph Copyright. BRISBANE, May 1. Arthur Ross ha 3 been sentenced ■v to death for the murder of Muir in j? the Gayndah Bank, in October last. Muir, wro was a junior clerk in the Gayndah branch of the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney, was found shot dead in the bank premises on the night or 18th October lasl. A railway porter passing the bank heard the sound of breaking glass, and summoned the police, who discovered Muir's body on the floor. There were indications that burglars had tampered with, hut failed to open, the safes. - The bank is a small wooden building. The manager was temporarily absent, and Muir had taken his place, sleeping ia the bank. He left his boarding house f to go to the bank only a few minutes before shots were heard. It is believed the burglar was hidden in the bank, and shot Muir as he was entering the bedroom. The body bore iour revolver wou;;d3, while a fifth shot had gone through one hand.
