"RAINBOW" EXHIBITION.
A BRILLIANT SUCCESS. The "Rainbow" exhibition was continued yesterday afternoon, and was brought to a close in the evening. There was a very large attendance in the evening, and although there remained a number of articles unsold the l esult was very satisfactory. The side shows were as well patronised as on the previous night. The Committee are deserving of the greatest credit for the manner in which they had worked in making the exhibition the success it was. The "Sphinx" illusion again was very successful. Professor Karl was assisted by Miss E. Kyle and Messrs F. Madsen and R. Barrett.
The competitions during the evening resulted as follows: Elocutionary Contest. — Ladiesj Miss L. Arnold 1, Miss Edwards'"2. Gentlemen: Mr E. R. Wilson 1, Mr D. Hebenton 2. Nail Driving Championship (Prize silver cup, value £2 2s)—Miss Cresswell 1. Soap Guessing Competition (correct weight of soap 60£lbs).—Miss N. Pragnell, 60|lbs, 1. Mr J. Elliott, Miss V. Carpenter, Mrs S. H. Ralph, Miss B. Wcod, and Mrs W. M. East-1 hope each guessed 601bs. Messrs Inns and Goddard's orcheetra rendered a splendid programme of music each night. The selectipns were very much appreciated by those present. The piano was kindly lent by the Dresden f iano Company. The total amount realised for the two days was about £l3O, while a further sum has yet to come in. A competition amongst the various stalls, with the object of seeing which could secure the best return, resulted in the Infant Class Stall coming first with over £37.
