Mr A. A. Narby, of Masterton, Teceived on Saturday news of the -death of nis mother at Akaroa. Mr Narby left, for Akaroa on Saturday afternoon. 1 During the Rev. A. W. Stace's j five years' ministration in Havelock, aavs the "Pelorus Guardian," he lias preached 1,020 sermons, baptised 21u children, prepared 56 candidates for confirmation, officiated at 55 weddings, and conducted 65 funeral services. Dulcie Djamer (Mrs Goldie), the young New Zealander whose clever literary contributions appeared in the "Lone Hand," is returning from India next month on a visit to her people at Featherston, South Waixarapa. She is the, daughter of Dr. Deamer. On Friday evening, the Rev. W. ,G. Ma:lin and Mr E. W. Pittendreigh ' (Home Missionary) were welcomed by the Carterton portion of the South Wairarapa Methodist Circuit -at a social gathering in the Methodist Church schoolroom, at Carterton. Although the weather was threatening, the attendance was very good, and an enjoyable time was spent. The chair was occupied by the Rev. W. J. Elliott, superintending Minister, and in addition to the chairman, addresses were delivered by Messrs Geo. A. Fairbrother and D. T. King. An entertaining musical pro- . gramme was provided, and the ladies provided supper.
