MASTERTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.
Messrs Levin and Co. report: We held our monthly sale of wool skins and hides at our Chapel street stors, yesterday, when we submitted a catalogue of 30 bales and 40 bags of wool, 1,900 sheepskins, 90 hides and a quantity of tallow. There was a good attendance of buyers, and prices realised were on a full*!evel with late-crates. We quote:— Wool: Crossbred, 42d to s£d; lambs, s*d toGd; crutchings, 3£d to 4Jd; locks and pieces, 3id; locks, 2M; dead, 53d. Skins: Crossbred, 4£d to skl; shortwools, 2jkl to 4d; quarter wools, 3Jd to 44d; lambs, 3d to 4d; dead, 4£d; pelts, 3£d; damp crossbred, 3s sd; damp lamb, 2s 4d. Hides: Ox, 4|d; cow, 4;j:d to 4jjd; and slippy, 3.|d to 4d; calf, good, ft id; calf, cut, 4d; calf, dry, 3Jd to BAd. Tallow: Casks, 21s 9d; barrels, 18s 3d; tins, 16s 3d (to 17s Gd; bags, 9s 3d to 17s. Onr next sale will be held on 2nd June.^ The Wairarapa Farmers' Cooperative Association, Ltd., and
Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows: —We held our monthly sale of wool, skins and hides, yesterday, offering a good catalogue of wool in bags and sacks, 1,300 sheepskins, 120 hides and a quantity of horsehair, rabbitskins and tallow. There was the usual attendance of buyers, and competition was fairly brisk, and the prices realised were slightly in advance of the previous sale. We suote:—-Wool: Fleece, 4£d to 4£d; fleece, seedy, 3£d to 4|d; dead wool, s£dtosid; crutchings, 3£d to 3fd; locks, 2£d to 2|d; lambs, 4£d to s£d. Skins: crossbred, fine. s|d; crossbred, 4d to sd; crossbred, seedy, 3|d; shorts, 3£d to 4£d; pelts, Id to 3£d; black, 3Jd; crossbred, green, 2s 6d to 3s 6d. Hides: Ox, 4d to 4£d; oy, slippy, 3£d; cow, 4§d [to 4£d; cow, slippy, 3|d; horse, 5s 6d; rail s§d; calf, slippy and cut, 2Jd. Our next sale will be held on the 2nd June.
