Nurse Godfrey, of Dannevirke, has been appointed matron at the Gisbeme Hospital. Mr 03. E. Chamberlain and Miss Chamberlain his daughter have returned to Masterton from a visit to Rotorua. A Dunedin Press Association telegram states that Mr John M'Farhne, Mayor of Tapanui, died suddenly yesterday afternoon, presumably from heart disease. Yesterday afternoon a quiet wedding was'celebrated at St. Matthew' 3 Church, when Miss Bessie Horsburgh, second daughter of Mr Horsburgh, of Lansdowne, was married to Mr Raymond Matthew's, 6f Waiorongomai, Western Lake. Miss Enid Matthews Was bridesmaid, and Mr Akers, of Palmerston North, was best man. The honeymoon is to be spent at Rotorua and Auckland. At the residence of the bride's parents, Dalefield, yesterday afternoon. Miss Clarence Hodder, daughter ol Mr James Hodder, of Dalefield, was married to Mr Chas. Gallon, son of Mr A. Gallon, of Matarawa, writes our Carterton correspondent. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. J. Elliott, in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives. Mr and Mrs Gallon will reside at Matarawa. Yesterday afternoon, at the residence of the bribe's parents, Miss May Paaske, only daughter of Mr G. J. Paaske, was married to Mr John Michael Shutkowski, second son of Mr Peter Shutkowki, of Carterton, ■writes our Carterton correspondent. The bride was given away by her brother, and was attended by Miss Russell as bridesmaid. Mr G. Greathead was best man. The Kev. Father Bowe performed the marriage ceremony. Mr and Mrs Shutkowski will reside in Carterton.
At the residence of the bride's parents, on Tuesday last, Miss Florence Shaw, third daughter of Mr G. Shaw, of Fitiherbert East, was married to Mr Jack Tilson, of Ponatahi, Wairarapa. Miss Agnes Shaw, sister of the bride, and Mis 3 Crissie Cooper, of Gladstone, Wairarapa, were the bridesmaids. Mr Hdgh Tilson, of Wairarapa, acted as best man, and Mr T. Shaw as groomsman. Mr and Mrs Tilson left by the express for Wellington, where the honeymoon is to be spent. Their future home will be at Ponatahi, Wairarapa. The resignation of the Very Rav. Father A. Keogh, Rector of St. Patrick's College, Wellington, has been finally accepted, but will not take effect till the end of June. The duties of rector, will then be taken over by the Very Rev. Dr. Kennedy. D.P., 8.A., 8.C.L., F.L.M.S., of Meanee, who is to be replaced by the Very Rev. Dean Smith, of Hastings. Very Rev. Father Keogh will then take over the duties of parish priest at Hastings.
