FARMERS' FREEZING WORKS
SITE WILL BE DECIDED BY | BALLOT. j Mr J. C. Cooper, chaisman of the j Provisional Board of Directors of the proposed Farmers' Freezing Works. in conversation with a Palmerston North '"Standard" representative, said that the prospectus wa3 being completed, and would be issued immediately. A great many letters had been received from leading farmers in the Wairarapa and other districts promising liberal support to the movement, and ! Mr Cooper is confidant that there will b's no difficulty whatever in floatirig the company. On the question of site, upon which so much depends, and which is of sufh interest to this locality, Mr Cooper said that it was prupoaed to form a sub-committee who would visit the proposed sites at Wellington, Porirua, Foxton, and Castlepoint, in company with an engineer. The engineer would draw up a report, and a printed copy would be sent to every shareholder, together with a ballot paper, and eAch shareholder would be asked to vote for the site he thought best. It is hoped in this way to arrive at a conclusion satisfactory to the majority. The capitial of the company his, as it already known, been fixed nominally at £IOO,OOO, but it has been decided that, as soon as £IO,OOO has been subscribed, the company will be floated. Mr Cooper intends to pay a visit to this district as soon as the prospectus is issued, and will address meetings in all the centres, while the local representatives on the board Messrs Wingate, Balsillie, Booth, and M'llroy—will be assisted by the chairman in a vigorous canvas of the district.
