Letters brought by whalers report that Dr Charcot's Antarctic expeditionary vessel Pourquoi Pas passed Christmas at Deception Island, and is wintering at Alexander I. Land. PROPOSED METEOROLOGICAL STATION. Received April 20, 10.10 a.m. MELBOURNE, April 19. The Commonwealth Meteorologist, while believing in Professor David's idea as to the advantages of an Antarctic weather station, thinks the money would be better spent in linking up some of the large areas in Australia from which no information is yet available. i
