TURF NOTES. (By "Zetland"). Mr A. Reside's San Fran—Ziska filly is now in work again. She has furnished nicely during this season, and will be a fine big three-year-old. Mr J. Cress has in active commission Gaelic, Campaign, Sealer and Pukewhai. The latter ricked his shoulder recently, but has now recovered from the ailment ,and is galloping freely on the tracks. Kiltie Lass has finished her two-year-old racing,®and will not be raced again until next season, Mr J. Cress will have two or three representatives at the Marlborough meeting next month, Sandix is nominated for events at the Manawatu meeting this month, but will not be taken through, as he has not been leniently treated by The handicapper.
Letherin is heing given plenty of hill work, and has thrown off the soreness evident some weeks ago. He will probably compete in the Century Hurdles at Wanganui next month. Sunbonnet has been sent on to Trentham, where she will compete in the Thompson Handicap on Wednesday. Merrie Rose will probably be among the contestants in the race, in which she is nicely treated with 6.13. Class will be well represented at the Wellington meeting this week, quite a number of the performers having won good races this season. The principal attraction for visitors will be the Thompson Handicap, ot one mile. Last year Sunbonnet and Sea Kin* dead-heated for first place. This year the former has to carry 151b more, su her chance of winning cannot be so highly assessed. Visitors to Trentham this week will have the pleasure of seeing Provocation, the champion two-year-old of the season. Mr W. E. Bidwill's colt is in fine trim, and should find tl\e Trentham course t his liking.
