"UNWARRANTABLE AND UNDEMOCRATIC."
By Telegraph—Press Association. INVERCARRGILL, April 18. At a meeting on Saturday night of the Southland Trades and Labour Council the following resolution was unanimously . carried:—"That the Council strongly protest against the unwarrantable and undemocratic action of the Premier in removing from the House of Representatives and giving to a member of the Upper House the important portfolio of Minister of Justice, being decidedly of the opinion that in an enlightened and democratic community the control and administration of the Justice and Police Departments should be held by a man who has been elected by and is responsible to the electors of the Dominion, and Ithat copies of this resolution be forwarded to other Trades and Ijabour Councils and organisations, who will be asked to irake similar protests."
