(From Our ResidentJßeporter). Thursday. " ! The [ Fahialna render" selections on the A Domain at Mangatainoka on Sunday next, should the weather prove favourable. Ihis "is quite'-ji new venture for the band, aac£the idea is metting with general approval by the Mangatainoka residents. Several frosts have been cxperienced followedjry bright, sunny days. , The sum of £5,400, paid out to-day to the suppliers of the Ballance Dairy Company, is considerably in excess of that paid out for March's milk supply in previous years. At the Komm (Ballance No. .2) factory, over a ton of butter is being manufactured daily, which speaks volumes for the dairying capacity of that district. A noticeable feature in the dairying districts around Pahiatua is the large number of stacks of beans which have been successfully harvested. The grain is used for feeding pigs, while the stacks make excellent bedding for them during the winter. The work in connection with the Scurborough-Pahia'vi . '• •■ '■ being pushed rapidly forward. The road has been patched in several places in preparation for the coming winter. Considerable interest is being taken in the coming Borough election, and it is new stated that no less than eight additional townspeople are willing to allow themselves to be nominated, The date lor the closing of nominations is Wednesday, 2sth inst. Mr Albert O'Meara who is wellknown in this town, is at present in practise in Hastings as a dental surgeon.

Owing to the fact that the Hamua Hotel has been burnt down, it is probable that the Bush Rugby Union's meetings will be held at Konini in future.

A pleasant social, the first of a monthly sti ies, was held in the Kaitavva Hall last evening. There was a good atifi umce, the floor was. in excellent order, and good music was supplied by Mr C. Hicks (piano),jMr A. McKay (bagpipes) and Mr J. Milne (violin), playing extras.__JVlr D. Ross made an efficient M.C.
