THE NAVAL CRISIS.

BRITAIN'S SUPERIORITY OVER GERMANY OVERWHELMING. | MR W. CHURCHILL'S VIEWS. Received April 15, 10.30 p.m. LONDON, April 15. Mr W. Churchill, in a letter tofhis constituents, says that whether in ships, men or guns, Britain's superiority over Germany is overwhelming. Any colonial Dreadnought would be additional to the British programme. The Admiralty were prepared to prove that Britain in 1912 would be effectively superior to the two next European powers. The two-Power standard was now devoid of meaning. It was absurd to build against the United States. The panic is due to sheer cowardice, based on stupid vicious errors. There was no antagonism between Britain and Germany only in commercial rivalry.

COMMENT BY THE "CHRONICLE." Received April 15, 10.50 p.m. LONDON, April 15. The "Chronicle," commenting on the speech, says:—"Poor Mr Asquith has some reputation for clear thinking and lucid expression, yet his young colleague characterises his workable formula as a vicious anp stupid error."
