Received April 8 ; 4.30 p.m. LONDON, April 8. Admiral Smith-Dorrin, at a Conservative meeting, declared that Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman's remains should be hanged in Trafalgar Square, because he betrayed his country. Several Radicals urgently sought to discuss the language in the House of Commons, but the Speaker refused on the ground that a retired Admiral was beyond official control. ACCIDENT TO A HOLIDAY PARTY. A MIRACULOUS ESCAPE, On Wednesday morning a party, consisting of Mr and Mrs Frank Dupre, and child, and Mr and Mrs Chas. King and child, left Masterton for Castlepoint, where they proposed spending the Easter Holidays. They motored out to Tenui, intending to travel the remainder oi the journey in the mail brake. The brake, however, was unable to accommodate the whole of those desirous of seating accommodation, Mrs Djpre and her child eventually being selected from the party to go by the brake, whilst the rest hired a buggy and pair from the stables with which to complete the journey. The horses were driven by an employee from the stables, and all went well until the top of the hill known as the "Big Saddle" was reached. Immediately the party began t.i descend, however, the horses, for some unaccountable reason, bolted, and as the road is narrow and treacherous the chances were the whole of the party would be precipitated down the steep embankment and killed outright. In negotiating the second turning in the road however, the whole of the occupants of the buggy were thrown out, and only a few chains further on the horses and vehicle went over a steep embankment, with' the result that one horse was killed, and the buggy smashed to pieces. The worst sufferers by the mishap were Mrs King, and her child. They were both badly bruised, and severely cut about the face, and it is thought that Mrs King has a rib broken. She is also suffering severely from shock. Mr Dupre arid Mr King were also considerably bruiped, but considering the locality in which the accident happened they feel that the whale party experienced a miraculous escape from very serious if not fatal injuries.
