STOCK MARKET.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., repoit on their fortnighdy stock sale yesterday as follows:—The yarding of sheep was fully up to expectations. The quality all through being mostly second rate, and prices realised fairly sound, considering the low prices ruling for fats. Competition was brisk, and we made a clearance. In cattle our entries were mostly useful steery, all of which sold before the close of the day. Best, 2, 4 and (5-tooth ewes made up to 12s 6d: extra good 2-tootn, 12s Gd;2*tooth wethers, very forward, 10s 8d; 4-year ewes, 9s to 10s; aged, 63 8d to 7s 6d; culls, 2s 6d to 4s; best lambs, 8s 6d; others, 6s; rams, ign to lgn; 3 and 4-year bullocks, £5 to £5 10s; 2-year steers, 60s; fat cows, 60s; forward heifers, 50s; weanes, 10 s. Messrs Dalgety and Co.. Ltd., report having held their usual fortnightly sale at their Masterton yards yesterday, when we submitted a large entry of both sheep and cattle. Stock came furward well above advertised numbers, and we are pleased to report that practically a total clearance was made. Although the depression in fat sheep all classes of sheep were well competed for. Cattle found a ready market: —We quotesLambs, 5s Id to 6s 5:1; 2-tooth ewes to lis lud; f.m. ewes, 4s 9d to 8s 4d; 2-tooth to f.m. ewes, 9s Bd, 9s lid, 10s 4d to 12s Id; no wethers came forward for sale; 3 and 4year steers, £5 6s to £5 8d; empty cows to £3 14s; empty heifers, £2 14s to £3 2s 6d; fat cows, £3 8s; forward three-year steers, £4 8s to £4 16s.
