The Masterton Friendly Societies' Council has invited the Carterton Societies to assist in the Hospital demonstration on Sunday, May 2nd.

A painful accident befel Mr F. Stempa a few days ago, at Gladstone, when assisting to throw a young horse. The animal kicked out, and caught Mr Stempa on the head, stunning him, and inflicting a severe wound. Mr Stempa was driven to his home here, where Dr Johnston put several stitches in the wound. The patient is now doing as well as can be expected.
