CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER.

Received April fi, 8.45 p.m. SYDNEY, April 6

The trial of Bryant on a charge of manslaughter in connection with the collision between the steamer Dun more and the naval pinnace .on January 3rd last, in which twenty men belonging to H.M.S. Powerful lost their lives, took place to-day. A verdict of not guilty was returned.

The Judge, in discharging Bryant, said:—"This man did the best he could under the circumstances. So far from being blameable, he is worthy of a great deal of commendation for not doing something which might have involved the overturning of the two boats."
