CO-OPERATIVE FREEZING WORKS PROJECT.
By Telegraph—Press Association. PALMERSTON N. ; , April 3. At the annual meeting of the Palrnerston North branch of the Farmers' Union to-day, the question of co-operative freezing works for the Wellington Province was further discussed. The chairman (Mr Balsillie) queried whether the farmers would take the matter up and work it onbusiness lines. If the suggested cooperative works failed to compete with the stock coming in, other companies might boycott shareholders. Mr Maule said that the farmers I getting a higher price from a private company would desert the co-opera-tive men. They would need to be bound down to support the co-opera-tive company. Mr Wingata said that success depended on the present funds and future management. The matter was suspended till further information had been obtained. Messrs Balsillie and Winagtewere appointed delegates to the meeting at Woodville on Wednesday next.
