PERSONAL.

Father Tom McKenr.a, of Pahiatua, is at present on a visit to Masterton for a few days. The Hon. A. W. Hogg arrived at Dannevirke last evening, from a tour in the back-blocks of the Pahiatua electorate, states a Press Association telegram. He left Pahiatua on Monday, accompanied by Mr Ross, M.P., and Mr Nathan, assistant District Road Engineer. They journeyed via Makuri, Pongaroa, Waione,. and "Weber, receiving numerous deputations. To-day Mr Hogg will leave Dannevirke for the King Country. In the Mangatainoka Library Hall on ' Wednesday evening, a farewell scial was tendered to Miss Sicely, who for some fonaiderable time past has been on the teaching staff of the Mangatainolca School, writas our Pahiatua correspondent. Much re•gret was expressed at Miss Sicely's •departure to the Hutt, as she had gained the esteem of both the scholars and parents in the district. Mr A. Quinlan, on behalf of the residents, presented Miss Sicely with a handsome silver set of brushes. From the scholars she received a gold : necklace, and from the teaching staff of the school a silver teapot and tea set. During the evening Mrs Rombach, and Messrs J. Bnnd and W. Skilton, contributed songs in excellent style. The dance music was sup- - plied by Messrs E. Sharp (violin) and J. Bnnd and T. Dray (piano). "Mr J. McTavish wa«s M.C.
