MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
ORDINARY MEETING.
The Masterton Borough Council met last evening. There were present:—The Mayor (Mr P. L. Hoi- . lings), and Crs J. Prentice, J. C» Ewmgton, W. Pragnell, A. Haughey, J. Hunter, Jas. Elliott and J. Pauling, W. Morris and J. Yarr. Very Rev. Dean McKenna wrote asking the Council's permission ta hold swimming races in the Borough Baths on Thursday next. The racea were for boys attending St. Patrick's School. The request was granted. Mr T. P. Harding, Secretary of the Masterton South Brass Band, wrote asking for a permit to hold a sacred concert in the Town Hall on Easter Sunday, April 12th. The application was granted, An application was received from, Messrs E. H. Home and Co. for a motor-bus permit to carry passengers between the town and railway station, which was granted. The request of Charles Gurotie for a hackney carriage and drivers* license was dealt with in committee, and it was finally decided not to grant the application. The Council decided to make a efund to Mr T. G. Mason of uxces3 of water rates paid in under b grouped valuation of his properties^
