LONDON MARKETS.

The High Commissioner cables as follows from London under date> Lon don, March/27th:—

' The mutton market remains very and has declined further. Canterbury, mutton, which is in small supply, is quoted at 3£d; North Ishnd, in large supply, 2fd: River Plate mutton is in large supply is being strongly pushed for sale at 2£d. The supply exceeds the demand and stock is accumulating. The lamb market is weak and inactive. There is very little prospect of improvement for some time. Stocks on hand are heavy and prices have declined. Canterbury lamb *4f d; other than Canterbury, 4Jd; Australian, 3gd; River Plat, 4f. The beef market is weak, owing to poor demand. Supplies of Kiver Plate beef are heavy. New Zealand hindquarters are quoted at 3d; forequarters 2Jd.

Tihe butter market is rather unsettled, buyers holding back expecting prices to lower. The market is lifeless. Choicest New Zealand butter is quoted at 103s; Australian, 101s; Argentine, 102s; Danish, 115s; Siberian 101s.

The cheese market is firm, and there is more demand, especially for coloured makes, which are now quoted at 645; white makes are quoted at 61s.
