WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.
Messrs Levin ard Company, Limited. report as follows regarindg Friday's sale:—We offered 100 bales wool, 2,700 skins, 400 hides and calfskins and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. There was the usual attendance of buyers, but bidding was quiet. Wool: —Sold on a par with recent prices. We quoteCrossbred fleece, 5d to 6Jd; best lambs, 7d to 7|d; medium lambs, sjd to 6^td; pieces and bellies, 2dto4d; locks, l£d to 2|d. Skins:—There was no change in the market, but for green skins there was a scrong demand at high prices. We quote — Fine crossbreds, 6d to 7d; crossbredb, 5d to 6Jd; dead skins, 3d to s£d; dead hoggets, 3d to 4£d; green pelts, 2s 6d to 3s 6d; lamb skins, 2s 6d to 3s 6d; lambs pelts, Is to Is 9d. Tallow: —Firm. Parcels in shipping order £24. Tins, £lB to £2l 10s. 1 Rough fat £lO to Horsehair:— Is to Is 4d per lb. Horns: 5s to 16s hundred. Cowtails: Is 3d to Is 6d per dozen. Hides:—We again brought forward a good catalogue, but calfskins were down quite a penny per lb., while cow hides dropped a farthing. We quote —Ox hides, •heavy, 6£d to 7£d; medium, 6d to 6§d; light, 5d to 6d; cow hides. 5d to s§d; cut and slippy hides, 2d to sd; stag hides, 2|d to 4Jd; bull hides, 2dto4£d; calf, best, 6£d to 7d; medium, 5d to s|d; calf, cut and slippy, 3d to 4d. Our next sale will be held on Friday, April 23rd, \ 1909. Bidding was brisk for wool i and sound for skins and hides, but f faulty lots were rather neglected, t We offered 50 bales and a number of jjjags of wool and disposed of nearly 'all at prices a shade over last sale rates. Hides are lower by id to id per lb. We quote:—Wool: Coarse crossbred, s|d to 6d; lambs, inferior, 5d to 5Jd; crutchings, lambs, 3£d to 4d; locks and pieces, ljd to 2fd. Sheepskins: Fine crossbred, 6£d to 7d; coarse and medium, s£d, to 6d; lambs, 4Jd to 6Jd; dead and broken skins, 3d to sd; quarter to half-woolled, 5d to s|d; damaged pelts, Id to 3£d; green skins, Is 9d to 3s 2d each. Hides: Ox medium, 5d to s|d; cow, heavy, 5d to coto and light ox, 4£d to sd; damaged hides, 29 to 4Jd; calfskins, sound, 6d to 6id; faulty, Id to 4d. Tallow: •In casks in shipping order, £23 10s to £24 per ton. ' Fat in boxes and tins, 20s to 20s 6d per cwt.
