PERSONAL.

At Wellington, on Friday last, Mr Austin Bewley. of Masterton, was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court by His Honor Mr Justice Cooper. Miss Sicely, who has been mistress of the Ma'jgatainuka School. Pahiatua, for *;he past fifteen years, will be transferred to the Hutt School on 3rd April. Hon. A. W. Hogg will leave Masterton for Pahiatua and Makuri to-day. On Tuesday he will visit Pongaroa, and on Wednesday, Weber and Dannevirke. Thence he proceeds to the King Country, and will be absent for a fortnight. The Minister intends visiting Thames and Tauranga. A well-known resident of Nireaha, Mr W. Bell, intends to take up his residence in the Wanganui district, where he intends to follow farming pursuits. Mr Bell is a prominent rifle shot, and has been President of the Tararua Rifle Cluh for two years. The Club will tender a farewell social to Mr Bell. Mr J. O'Leary, the well-known Wairarapa representative footballer, who intends to take up his residence in Auckland, was tendered a farewell social in the Central Hotel on Saturday evening last. Mr T. Jenkins occupied the chair, and on behalf of those present, handed to Mr O'Leary a handsome travelling bag, pipe and tobacco pouch, at the same time wishing him success in the future. Mr O'Leary suitably replied. The evening was spent in a convivial manner, a number of toast 3 being honoured. The death is announced of Mr J. V. Cordoza, who, for many years, kept a fruiterer's shop on Lambton Quay. Wellington. A Spaniard by birth, he came to New Zealand many years ago, and settled in Wanganui, where he and Mrs Cordoza soon became identified with the social life of the town, Mrs Cordoza being a singer of more than usual ability. The deceased's characteristics made him popular with a large circle of acquaintances. Ha was an enthu • siastic follower of the pastime of bowling, and he was known on every green in Wellington.
